Allen A. Baton, Jr.

Allen A. Baton, Jr., 89, of Carrspond Road, West Greenwich, RI, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Alpine Nursing Home, Coventry, RI. Born in Kingston, RI, he was the husband of the late Lillian R. (Malbaurn) Baton and the son of the late Allen A. Sr. and Blanche (Matteson) Baton.

Allen was a heavy equipment operator for Atlantic Coast Company of East Greewich, RI, for thirty years until retiring in 1984. 

He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He belonged to Club Jogues Horseshoe League, the American Legion Post #15, West Greenwich, RI, he was a member of Country Music Association of RI and the Haye Loft Jamboree. He was also a Ham Radio operator with call sign number W1AAB.

Allen is survived by two daughters; Carol A. Card and Cindy L. Yates, a brother; George Baton, a sister; Mildred Hall, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a niece Linda Palmquist.

A church service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Quidnessett Baptist Church, 6356 Post Road, North Kingstown, RI. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
