Bernadette G. (Lavigne) Wunschel

Bernadette G. Wunschel, 86, of Linwood Drive, Coventry, RI, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at her son's home on Andrews Avenue, West Warwick, RI. Born in West Warwick, RI she was the wife of Carl A. Wunschel, Sr. They were married for fifty-nine years and would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary on May 4, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Yvonne (Matteau) Lavigne.

Bernadette was a bottle packer at the former Star City Glass of West Warwick, RI. She also worked for Colony Elastic in West Warwick, RI and had her own housekeeping business.

Bernadette loved taking care of her family.

Besides her husband she is survived by four children; Carl A. Wunschel, Jr. and his wife Donna, Heidi Stevelmans, Mark Wunschel and his wife Donna and Kevin Wunschel and his wife Lisa, nine grandchildren; Shannon, Bonnie, Jennifer, Michael, Shane, Christy, Carl, Pamela and Justin and thirteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers; Normand Lavigne, Germaine Lavigne and Leo Lavigne, a sister; Jeannette Larney and her son-in-law; Andre Stevelmans.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 8:00 am in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 am in the Ss. John & Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
