Frank W. Blanding Sr., 97, of Main Street, Coventry, RI, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Riverview Healthcare Community, Coventry, RI. Born in West Warwick, RI, he was the husband of the late Louise T. (Tetreault) Blanding and the son of the late Leon L. and Eva I. (Hopkins) Blanding.
Frank was a supervisor for Electric Boat, Groton, CT, for thirty years before retiring in 1985. He was a US Army veteran who served at Panama Canal in the Republic of Panama. He was the Past Commander of VFW Post 9404 of Coventry, RI, he belonged to the Coventry/West Greenwich Elks #2285 and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
Frank is survived by three children; Frank L. Blanding, Barbara Izzo and Carol Carroll, a brother; Donald Blanding, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:30 am in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. A calling hour will be held prior from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Burial will be private.
