Ignazio J. Fontana

Ignazio J. “John” Fontana, 80, of Johnson Boulevard, Coventry, RI, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at Kent Hospital, Warwick, RI. Born on October 23, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the husband of Barbara T. (Hynes) Fontana and the son of the late Frank and Margaret (DiPrima) Fontana.

Ignazio was the vice president for loss prevention for Brooks Pharmacy and also worked in the SIU Department for Metropolitan Life until retiring. He was a US Army veteran during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Coventry Town Council, District #5, elected from November 1990 to 1996.

Besides his wife he is survived by two sons; Eric S. Fontana and Jason M. Fontana, four grandchildren; Evelina, Cecelia “CC”, Camdyn and Caelan and a brother in law; Whitey Pastorelli. He was predeceased by a sister; Margaret F. Pastorelli.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Burial will be private.
