James L. Buford

James L. Buford, 82, of Tero Drive, Coventry, RI, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at home. Born on December 13, 1936 in Bunceton, MO, he was the husband of Carolyn (Rice) Buford. They were married for fifty-eight years. He was the son of the late Claud E. and Edith R. (Krauss) Buford.

James was an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Providence, RI for forty years before retiring. He was a Chapter President of Full Gospel Businessman International Luncheon Chapter. James was a US Navy veteran serving in peacetime.

Besides his wife he is survived by two sons; Michael P. Buford and his wife Baracha of Florida and Todd M. Buford of Florida and two grand children; Ashley and Lauren. He was predeceased by a son; James H. Buford.

A church service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 9:30 am in the Faith Baptist Church, 765 Commonwealth Avenue, Warwick, RI. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Burial with US Military Honors will be at RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
