Mabel G. (Mann) Childs

Mabel (Mae) G. Childs of West Warwick passed away on the 20th of April, at Woodpecker Hill Health Center, Coventry, RI, with family by her side. She was born in Newport News, Virginia on November 23rd, 1935, the daughter of Roy and Valora (Sartin) Mann. She married Gene C. Childs on October 24th 1961, and was married until his death on their 33rd wedding anniversary.

She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to anyone who needed one. She was an avid antique collector and dealer, the owner of Rosewood Antiques, in West Warwick, and a member of SENEADA, until the onset of her illness in 2005.

Mabel is survived by her sister Ruth C. Mann of East Providence, her three children, Karen L. Therrien of Sterling, CT, Gary N. Childs of Warwick, and Patti A. Cremmen of Raynham, MA, two grandchildren, Raina P. Madison of West Warwick and Tanner M. Therrien of Sterling, CT, and a devoted best friend Joyce Shatkin of Cranston.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home in Coventry, RI on Saturday, April 25th at 11:00 AM, where everyone is encouraged to share thoughts and stories. There will be a celebration of life, for friends and family, at her former residence, 39 Woodside Ave., West Warwick, immediately following the service.
