Thomas P. Richardson

Thomas P. Richardson, 70, of Coventry, RI passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Coventry Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Coventry, RI.  He was married for 48 years to Carolyn J. (Longbottom) Richardson and was the son of the late Thomas and Ruth (Woods) Richardson.

Thomas worked in maintenance for General Dynamics Electric Boat, in Quonset Point, North Kingstown, RI for twenty years, until his retirement in 2005. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, retiring in 1984 after serving 21 years. He also served as Past Commander Langevin Post #449 in West Warwick, RI and was a former Chaplin at the Crompton Vets Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children; Cynthia L. Horan and her husband Michael, Lynne M. Repose and Matthew S. Richardson and his wife Sharon, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers; James and John Richardson and a sister; Ruth Plante. He was predeceased by a brother; Patrick Richardson.

A funeral home service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 9:00 am in Gorton-Menard Funeral Home and Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 18, from 4:00-8:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, in Exeter, RI.
