Janet Esther Tennent (Card), 82, of York, ME, died peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2021. She was born in West Warwick, RI, on December 5, 1938 to the late Wallace and Esther (Johnson) Card.
Janet was the beloved wife of the late Thomas N. Tennent who was the absolute love of her life. Jan and Tom raised four sons, Steven, Scot, Sean and Shane in Hope, RI. They have five grandchildren Alexander St. Martin, Sean Tennent, Becca Tennent, Madeleine Tennent and Riley Tennent. Janet leaves a brother, Wallace Card, three daughter-in-laws, Susan Tennent, Darlene Tennent and Sheryl Tennent and many loved cousins, nieces, nephews and very close friends.
Janet’s love for the Maine shoreline with it’s magical beaches, lighthouses, and shells gave her and Tom so much peace that they moved from RI and Maine became their home.
Janet formed so many close friendships and touched everyone with her infectious laughter (especially poking fun at herself!). Janet had many passions including her love of music, nature photography, Maine lobster rolls, RI favorites; especially hot wieners, fish & chips, and chowder & clamcakes, and sampling many Maine restaurants with friends and family.
As per her wishes, a “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later time to be announced.
In lieu of flower donations, the family asks that in Janet’s memory, you plant a flower in your garden, take a stroll searching for shells on your favorite beach or enjoy a special meal and a pina colada with friends and family.
