Life Legacy


Fred H. Card, Jr., 72, born and raised in Coventry RI passed away Friday, January 22, 2010 in Saucier, MS at the We Care Hospice Center.

He was the husband of Shirley J. (Benoit) Card and the son of the late Fred H., Sr. and Flossie (Congdon) Card. He is survived by a son; David K. Card, a daughter; Dawn M. Loveless and three grandchildren. He was one of 14 children; Beatrice, Judy, Walter, William, Betty-Ann, Pearl, Flossie, Lloyd, Ruth, Ann, Shirley, Everett, Irene. In his younger years he was a volunteer fire fighter for the Anthony Fire Department in Coventry, RI and worked as a Senior Supervisor at Electric Boat until his retirement. He enjoyed working on cars and helping anyone who was in need. He and his wife enjoyed their retirement by traveling the country, visiting and residing in many places over the past 10+ years. He was the pillar of our family and he will be missed.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 8:00 am from the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sts. John & Paul Church, South Main Street, Coventry, RI at 9:00 am. Calling hours are Wednesday, January 27, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial will be in the Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick, RI.
