Biography

Pearl M. Blanding, 81, of Burnett Street, Providence, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Phillip Hulitar Hospice Care in Providence, RI. Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the wife of the late Joseph D. Blanding and the daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude (McGullian) Martin. Pearl was a housekeeper for many years for the Royal Manor in East Greenwich, RI. She also was a volunteer for the Providence Summer Lunch Program, the Assumption Church Clothing and Food Bank and the West End Community Center. She is survived by a son; John I. Blanding, a daughter; Bernadette Blanding-Bhandari with whom she lived, four grandchildren; Christopher and Scott Phothisane, and Chelsea and Connor Blanding, and two step grandchildren; Ashtosh and Eva Bhandari. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 8:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours are prior from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be kindly made to the Blanding family.
