Anna M. “Millie” Gorton, 83, formerly of Coventry, RI, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Greenwood Center, Warwick, RI. Born in Jamestown, RI, she was the wife of the late Luther C. Gorton, Sr. and the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Devere) Phillips.
Anna was a jewelry worker at Victoria Creations, Warwick, RI for eight years before retiring in 1992. She was an avid crafts person.
She is survived by seven children; Luther C. Gorton, Jr, and his wife Lynn, Ruth A. Landry and her husband Gerard, Thomas R. Gorton and his wife Patricia, Alan B. Gorton and his wife Linda, Ronald B. Gorton and his wife Anna, Jean A. Gorton and her wife Darlene and Mark A. Gorton, two brothers; Robert Phillips and Thomas Phillips, a sister; Helen Phillips, thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son; Daniel G. Gorton, three brothers; Donald Phillips, George Phillips and William Phillips and four sisters; Dorothy Carr, Barbara Garro, Viola Burgess and Lyilas Gorton.
A funeral service will be held on on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and an hour prior on Saturday March 3, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Rathbun Cemetery, Coventry, RI.
