David M. Tiernan, 73, of Imperial Avenue, Cranston, RI passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA. Born in Providence, RI, he was the beloved husband of Sandra M. (Costa-Mello) Tiernan. They were married for fifty-two years. He was the son of the late Edward and Anna (Tucker) Tiernan.
David was a police officer for the US Federal Government for many years. He was a US Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Besides his wife he is survived by four children; David M. Tiernan, Christine M. Reardon, Sharon M. Tiernan and Edward M. Tiernan, a brother; Robert F. Tiernan, a sister; Maureen Sylvia, sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter; Lynne M. Peters, and three brothers; Edward Tiernan, James Tiernan, and Raymond Tiernan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 9:00 am at St. John and Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry, RI. Burial with military honors will be held at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
