Ethel L. “Kitty” Perkins, 89, of Yeaton Street, Coventry, RI, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Greenville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Smithfield, RI. Born on October 6, 1930, in Franklin, VA, she was the wife of the late Vincent S. Perkins and the daughter of Jethro and Edna (Bailey) Harrell.
Ethel was a field agent for the Internal Revenue Service, Providence, RI, for many years until retiring in 1995. She received the Galitin Award for exemplary service. She earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Rhode Island College. She belonged to NARFE Chapter 998 and AARP Chapter 2210. She was an avid New England sports fan. She also enjoyed Bingo, Bowling and reading.
Ethel is survived by four children; Bruce Perkins, Sharon Bertholdt, Gary Perkins and wife Anne and Barry and his companion Judy, nine grandchildren; Chad, Jeff, Kelly, Kilee, Chris, Cory, Tim, Kali and Kelsey, several great-grandchildren and a great great-grandson. She was predeceased by a son; Glenn Perkins and twelve brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019, at 5:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. A calling hour will be held prior from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. Burial will be private.
