Frances M. (Davis) Bates

Frances M. Bates, 89, of Columbia Avenue, Coventry, RI, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at West View Nursing Home, West Warwick, RI. Born on August 24, 1929 in Kingston, NY, she was the daughter of the late Calvin B. and Jennie G. (DeWitt) Davis.

Frances worked in packaging department for Royal Mills, West Warwick, RI for ten years until retiring. She enjoyed trips back to her native New York to visit family and friends. Frances was a long time Boston Red Sox fan. She will be sadly missed.

Frances is survived by four children; Robert M. Bates and his wife Deborah, Denise B. Asselin and her husband Wayne, Dale M. Bates and Diane M. Melo and her husband Marcio and three grandchildren; David, Daniel and Robert. She was predeceased by three brothers; Glenn Davis, Joseph Soucie and Robert Davis and two sisters; Gladys Karlsbarch and Annabelle McCrory.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be held prior from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial will be private.
