Hazel Violet (Stone) Chase, 95, formerly of Hall Road, Greene, passed away Monday. Born in West Warwick, RI, she was the wife of Horatio T. Chase, who pre-deceased her in 2009. They were married for sixty-six years. She was the daughter of Charles and Gladys Stone. She is survived by a son Charles Chase, and his wife Sarah of Coventry, RI; two daughters, Linda Peiczarka and her husband Dave of Thompson, CT, and Beverly Chase of Louisiana; three grandchildren, Becky Chase, Janelle Peiczarka and Jeffrey Peiczarka. Hazel raised her family on Greene Tree Farm, where her husband grew Christmas trees for 58 years. Prior to living in Greene, she graduated from Bryant College and worked as a secretary for several years with the Seabees at Quonset Naval Base. Hazel was heavily involved in Rice City Church both as a member of the Ladies’ Aid and as Treasurer. She enjoyed time with her family and friends, baking, playing cards, and reading the paper every morning. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Rice City Church, Vaughn Hollow Road, Coventry, RI. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Burial will be private.
