Janice B. (Brown) Sanford

Janice B. “Jan” Sanford, 85, of Maple Root Village, Coventry, RI, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Kent Hospital, Warwick, RI. Born on June 29, 1933 in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Ethel (Weeks) Brown.

Jan was employed as a secretary most of her life, having been employed by the North Kingstown School Department and the Coventry Department of Human Services. Most recently she was employed by Super Stop & Shop, Coventry, RI, leaving due to illness in 2009. Jan was a loving, devoted mother and a caring friend to many. She will be sadly missed.

Jan is survived by a brother; Charles R. Brown, a sister; Sylvia Brown and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter; Kathleen Sanford, two brothers; Kenneth Burdick and James Brown and a sister; Ethel Fournier.

A funeral home service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:00 am in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. A calling hour will be held prior from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown, RI.
