John Montague, 96, of Periwinkle Road, Narragansett, RI, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at home. Born in Central Falls, RI he was the husband of the late Kathryn (Morgan) Montague and the son of the late James and Dorothy (Gallagher) Montague.
John worked for many years as a machinist at Brown and Sharpe Manufacturing Company, Providence, RI until retiring. He was a US Army veteran of WWII serving with the 10th Mountain Division and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service to his country.
He is survived by two daughters; Margaret Beckert and Kathryn Montague-Magnotta and her husband Peter, two sons; John Montague and his wife Brenda and James Montague and his wife Gail, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother; Alfred Montague and a sister; Virginia Kelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 am in the St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett, RI. Burial with US Military Honors will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Providence, RI.
