John E. Streker, 79, of Gardner Road, West Kingston, RI, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Steere House Nursing & Rehabilitation, Providence, RI. John was born on February 20, 1940 in Providence, RI. He is survived by his wife Henriette E. (Belleville) Streker to whom he was married for thirty-four years. He was the son of the late Dr. Edward T. and Doris L. (Clancy) Streker.
John was a chef for many years at Providence College, Providence, RI until retiring in 1998. He worked as a chef for various country clubs and hotels. He attended Johnson & Wales College from 1972 to 1973.
Besides his wife, he is survived by eleven children: John Streker, Michael Streker, Peter Streker, Edward Streker, Thomas Streker, Mary “Kerrie” Streker, Mark Pelletier, Denise Adoptante, Scott Pelletier, Brian Pelletier and Michelle Belleville-Cristy; and his three sisters Jacqueline Wayss, Elizabeth DiFrenna and Susan Mollicone. John was predeceased by three sisters: Dolores Streker, Maureen Salone and Barbara Campo. John was the grandfather of twenty-one grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, and had many nieces and nephews.
A funeral home service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 4:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Burial is private.
