Madeleine L. (Lussier) Briggs

Madeleine L. Briggs, 86, of Plain Meeting House Road, West Greenwich, RI, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Alpine Nursing Home, Coventry, RI. Born in Providence, RI, she was the wife of the late Norman R. Briggs, Sr. and the daughter of the late Eli E. and Alice R. (Clermont) Lussier.

Madeleine was an assistant tax assessor for the Town of West Greenwich, RI, for twenty years until retiring.

She taught her grandchildren to enjoy music, she loved gardening, doing crafts with flowers and loved to bake for her family. She enjoyed the company of people as they enjoyed hers.

Madeleine is survived by five children; Norman R. Briggs, Jr., Ann L. Olszewski, Gary L. Briggs, Debra S. Auld and Ernest J. Briggs, a brother; Paul Lussier, two sisters; Anita Doak and Alice Joyal, twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother; Ernest Lussier.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 8:00 am in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Ss. John & Paul Church at 9:00 am. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
