Michael J. Spelman

Michael “Mike” Spelman passed away at the young age of 36 years old on June 24, 2017. After battling a lifelong fight with Diabetes, he endured a kidney transplant which failed after a short time, also a pace maker. As a young adult he suffered many additional health issues since his kidneys failed. He was forced to go to Dialysis three times per week. He took insulin and tested himself multiple times daily. Mike, in spite of suffering daily with chronic pain and many symptoms which dragged him down physically, he filled his life with family, friends and sports — attending games as much as possible. Toy collecting and comics brought him happiness. He wanted everyone around him to share his happy spirit to have fun. Being a prankster at heart is how he expressed his joy of life. He filled all our hearts with fondly treasured memories. Mike will finally rest in peace — Gone but never forgotten.

Michael leaves behind his mother, Patricia Spelman Hackworth, his father Michael Eckles, his brother Zachary Cimaglia, his step brother Mark Chase, his grandparents Valerie and James Daigneault, Robert and Sherry Spelman, Elaine Eckles, extended family and many, many friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at Gorton-Menard Funeral Home and Crematory, 721 Washington St (Rte 117), Coventry, Rl. Calling hours will be held prior from 8:00 to 11:00 am.
