Willis E. Poole

Dr. Willis E. Poole, 72, of Quaker Lane, West Warwick, RI, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at home. Born on June 19, 1946 in Providence, RI, he was the husband of Vladia C. Borges. They were married for eleven years. He was the son of the late Charles A. Sr. and Hazel E. (Collins) Poole.

Willis was a teaching professor at RI College, Providence, RI, for twenty-five years until retiring in 2007. He was a graduate of RI College with a Bachelor’s Degree in teaching and later graduated in Vermont with a Master’s Degree in teaching as a second foreign. Willis got his Ph.D from the University of New York. Willis was also a member of the RI Language Teacher’s Association, and in 2010 he became a Secondary Education Honor Roll Recipient from Rhode Island College.

Besides his wife he is survived by a brother; Charles A. Poole Jr., and a sister; Kathleen Lozeau. He was predeceased by a brother; George M. Poole and two sisters; Barbara Ann Poole and Joyce McLaughlin.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be held prior from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial will be private.
