Andrew William Gelinas, 31, of Coventry, Rhode Island, passed away on October 6, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories. He was born on July 24, 1992, in Kissimmee/St. Cloud, Florida, to Darlene (Cote, Gelinas) Jordan. Andrew’s strong and resilient nature came from his mother and grandmother, Annette J. Morin, who helped raise him with his mom.
Andrew was a loving father of three, a son, a brother, an uncle of three, and a friend to many. He passed away peacefully at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in the morning hours of Friday, October 6, 2023.
He is survived by his beloved son, Andrew William Millard (age 12), beloved daughters, Ellianna (Ellie) Annette Gelinas (age 7), and Allanna (Nani) May Amore (age 6). All three were the lights of his short life. Although the void his death created in their lives will never be repaired, we know he will be guarding them from harm in heaven.
Andrew had a warm and wild spirit that endeared him to many. He had an infectious smile that would make others come out of their shells. His giving heart was always open to those in need. Drew or “Drewbie,” as he was nicknamed by his sister, was always full of energy, fearless, self-aware, and strong. If you needed something moved, Andrew was there. If your car needed a repair, he would not hesitate to pop the hood.
Throughout his life, he held many jobs, from automotive, to carpentry, to his most recent job in the tree removal industry. He truly was the “Jack of all trades.” If Andrew could take it apart, he could rebuild it. His vast skill set showcased the intelligence of his fast-paced mind.
He is survived by his parents, Darlene Vivian Jordan, Stepfather, Steven Perry Jordan, his two siblings, Ashley Ann-Marie (Gelinas) Aguiar, Arthur David Gelinas III, his devoted girlfriend and mother of his two girls, Tia L. Amore, and the grandfather of his daughters, Anthony J. Amore—A man he adored like a father.
Andrew also leaves behind his two nephews, David Omar Gelinas, and Elliot James Gelinas, as well as his beloved niece, Bianca Ava Aguiar, whom he lovingly called "Bee."
Each of us will remember Andrew for his humor, bravery, kindness, and the deep bond we all shared with him.
We remember Andrew William Gelinas not for the challenges he faced, but for the love he gave, the joy he brought, and the memories he leaves behind. He will forever be in our hearts.
Services are to be determined.
Instead of sending flowers or making donations to a specific charity, we have created the following GoFundMe campaign to make this Christmas as special as possible for Andrew's three young children. If we raise more funds than needed for the holiday season, any excess will be put into individual college funds in each child's name—just as Andrew would have wished.
