Anthony Andrea Obituary

Anthony “Sonny” Louis Andrea, Sr., of West Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, just one day before his 88th birthday. Born in Providence, on August 9, 1937, he was the beloved son of the late Anthony Michael Andrea and Virginia (Santos) Andrea.

Sonny was the devoted husband of Carol (Anderson) Andrea, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, resilience, and family.

He was a proud father to Anthony L. Andrea Jr., Virginia Mary Andrea, and Brian Andrea Sr. and his wife Sandra. He was a cherished grandfather to Brian Andrea Jr. and his wife Kaitlin, Ashley Marra, and Melanie Marra, and a loving great-grandfather to Renee, McKenna, and Raiden. He is also survived by his brother David Andrea and sister-in-law Kathleen and his niece Michelle Andrea.  Anthony was predeceased by his niece, Deborah Marie (Andrea) Burton and a grandson, Stephen N. Powers II.

Raised in Cranston, RI, Anthony was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He operated a ready-mix truck for Campanella & Cardi Corporation for many years as a member of Local Teamsters 251. Later, he became the owner of A.A. Seal Coating, where he continued to demonstrate his entrepreneurial spirit. He also served honorably in the United States Reserves.

Anthony found joy in the outdoors—he loved hunting and fishing on Johnson’s Pond in Coventry. He was a proud member of the Warwick Sportsman Association and a life member of the Highland Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, sharing laughter and camaraderie around the table.

The Andrea family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Hope Health Care Team, the West Warwick EMTs, Dr. Manzo, and Dr. Ollila for their compassionate care and support.

Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anthony’s memory to the American Cancer Society.

Anthony will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
