Cheryl Ann (Walason) Bates

Cheryl Ann Bates, 61, of Home Street, West Warwick, RI, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI. She was born on May 24, 1962, in Cranston, RI, and was the daughter of Raymond Walason and the late Shirley (Kyle) Walason.

Cheryl studied nursing at the New England Institute of Technology and spent time as a blackjack dealer. She was a gifted crafter who loved creating unique pieces for people to enjoy. Additionally, she was an animal lover who cared for dogs, cats, ferrets, and even taught a pet parakeet to say, "I love you." Cheryl will be remembered as a loving and caring person with a great sense of humor.

Besides her father, Raymond Walason, Cheryl is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Walason) Randolph; four sisters, Donna Aziz, Linda Martin, Raeann Hayes, and Doreen Calise; and three grandchildren, Mariya McNamee, Sylas Bradshaw, and Mycah Bradshaw. She was predeceased by her daughter, Amanda Ann Bennett.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 3:00 pm in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home located at 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Burial will be private.
