Clinton J. Shurtleff Jr., 75, of Carrs Trail, Coventry, RI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI. Born on April 5, 1950, in Warwick, he was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (McCarthy) Shurtleff. Together, they shared 45 years of marriage built on love and devotion.
He was the son of the late Clinton J. Shurtleff Sr. and Helen (Silvia) Shurtleff.
Clinton dedicated four decades of his life to education as a professor at New England Technical College in Warwick, retiring in 2022. He was a proud member of the Highland Rod and Gun Club in Foster, RI, Volunteer firefighter for Western Coventry Fire Department, a fire inspector and found joy in the outdoors—whether building, repairing, or simply spending time at the family’s cherished home in New Hampshire.
In addition to his wife Patricia, Clinton is survived by his three children: Beth Beiermann and her husband John, Erin Shurtleff, and Brian Shurtleff; his siblings Frank Shurtleff and William Silvia; and grandchildren: Michael Brennan, Cole Shurtleff, Quinn Shurtleff and Andrew Beiermann.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Gorton – Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Burial will be private.
