Obituary

Cynthia A. Lefrancois, 74, of West Warwick, RI passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. Born in September 19, 1947 in Fall River, MA, she was the wife of the late James R. Lefrancois and the daughter of the late Evelyn (Quintin) Lemerick.

Cynthia (Cindy) and James (Jimmy) met as teenagers and their young love led to engagement at the ages of 16 and 19. Their marriage had a unique beginning with a court-ordered 30-day ‘trial marriage’ due to Cindy being below the legal age to wed. Their passion and devotion guided them through this trial and 38 years of marriage until Jimmys passing. Together they built a life for themselves and raised their seven daughters in West Warwick, RI. Cindy was an outspoken woman known for her light-hearted and firery spirit. She enjoyed bingo, reading, crafting, and playing in a high-low-jack league with Jimmy. She was often caught humming the tune of ‘What A Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong and would always say to her many grandchildren “You’re my favorite,” and “I love you with all my heart and soul.” She loved spending time with her daughters, she inspired a closeness amongst them that will last a lifetime.

Cynthia is survived by seven daughters; Michelle Thomas, Jamie Nadeau, Dayna O’Rourke and her husband Keith, Melissa Giorno and her husband David, Jessica Lefrancois and her husband David, Jennifer Lefrancois and Kasaundra Paiva and her husband David, four siblings; Roger Lemerick, Margaret Steadman, Raymond Lemerick and Elaine Sala, fifteen grandchildren; Robert Thomas III, Danielle Cartier, Samantha Nerney, Conner Thomas, Michael Nadeau, Madison Nadeau, Emerald O’Rourke, Mackenzie O’Rourke, Hope O’Rourke, Davio Giorno, Evelyn Zukauskas, James Zukauskas, Isabelle Lefrancois, Jacob Lefrancois and Ethan Paiva and four great grandchildren; Robert Thomas IV, Ryan Thomas, Macy Nerney and Jesse “JJ” Nerney. She was predeceased by two brothers; William Lemerick and Alfred Lemerick.
