Donald J. Girard Sr., 81, of Mohawk Street, Coventry, Rhode Island, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Kent Hospital in Warwick. Born on October 23, 1944, he was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Spavold) Girard and the son of the late Ernest and Theresa (Paul) Girard.
Mr. Girard was a dedicated and highly skilled machinist throughout his long career. He spent many years with Style Craft Company, where he retired in 2018, and also shared his craftsmanship with Mod, Balfour and Jostens. In addition, he built a reputation for quality and precision through his own business, Don Craft.
Known for his strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues in every workplace he touched. His commitment to his craft and the pride he took in his work left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam Era. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures and cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, gardening, and grilling, and was especially known for his signature clam chowder, a favorite among family and friends. He was kind, gentle and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters Theresa A. Girard and Robin L. Girard; his sister Carol Wilker and her husband Dale; his grandchildren Samantha Patton, Christina Kozora, Marisa Patton, and Steven O’Brien; and his great‑granddaughter Karley Kozora. He was predeceased by his son, Donald J. Girard Jr.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, funeral services will be private.
