Donald G. Lavoie, 65, of Coventry, RI, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Born on March 27, 1959, in Warwick, RI, he was the son of the late Henry and Sylvia (Boudreau) Lavoie.
Donald was a carpenter for Local Union 94, Warwick, RI, for many years. His carpentry skills can be seen across the state of Rhode Island including his contribution to the building of the Jamestown Bridge. When Don wasn’t working, he filled his time coaching and sharing his passion for sports with his sons.
Later in life, Don never stopped working, spending his days helping his family and friends with home projects, a true carpenter through and through. Though he loved carpentry, Don’s favorite role was being a grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandchildren and loved being their Poppa, never failing to spoil them with love, snacks, and way too many toys.
Donald is survived by two sons; Nicholas Lavoie and his wife Stephanie and Michael Lavoie and his wife Amber, two brothers; Brian Lavoie and his wife Sherrie and Steven Lavoie, and four grandchildren; Savannah, Ella, Evelyn, and a grandson due in March.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 5:00P.M. - 7:00P.M. in the Gorton – Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI.
A private burial will be held.
