Dorothy M. (LaPointe) Rathbun

Dorothy M. Rathbun, 101, of Weaver Hill Road, Coventry, RI, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at Kent Hospital in Warwick. Born on July 11, 1923, in Providence, she was the beloved wife of the late James A. Rathbun Sr. and the daughter of the late Herbert and Evelyn (Johnson) LaPointe.

Dorothy dedicated 25 years of service as a machinist at the Bostitch Company in East Greenwich before retiring in 1980. She was a proud member of the Eastern Star and a former member of the Chepachet Grange. Dorothy found joy in family gatherings, Sunday dinners, dancing, and the occasional trip to the casino.

She is survived by her children, Karen L. Paul and James A. Rathbun Jr.; her siblings, Warren LaPointe and Denise Rawson; grandchildren, Christopher Paul, Michael Paul, Jason Rathbun, and Jamie Lee Rathbun; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Arthur A. Rathbun, and siblings Raymond LaPointe, Evelyn Newman, Helen Teft, Irene Lathrop, Gary LaPointe, Patricia DesRocher, and John LaPointe.
