Everett E. Hudson Jr.

Everett (Junior) Hudson, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.  

Junior was the son of the late Mae Gillespie and Everett E. Hudson, Sr.  He leaves his daughter Laurie and her husband Paul and granddaughter Melissa Lamoureux. He also was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy (LaRose) and his daughter Paula.

He was born in Coventry and lived there all his life. He served on many committees and boards for the town as well as serving as Town Sergeant and Town Councilman.  His proudest service to the town was on the Canvassing Board.  Both his mother and father also served on this board.

Junior served in the Army and was sent to Korea returning in 1955.  After returning from Korea, he married Dorothy in 1956 and raised a family on Johnson’s Pond where they lived for 50 years before moving out to the new family compound in Western Coventry.  

Junior spent 38 years working for Suburban Propane before retiring in 1995. After “retirement” he spent another 10 years delivering propane to Block Island for Littlefield & Sons, this was his favorite job.   

He loved his trips to Maine with his wife where they spent many hours exploring the coastal towns from Kittery to Portland.  His favorite was Wells Beach where they would get their favorite room on the beach and watch the waves.

He also enjoyed the summers spent on Martha’s Vineyard where he became friends (family) with the locals.  

He leaves behind a legacy of family and friends and will be missed by many from Maine to California.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 1:00 pm in the Gorton – Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be held prior from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Burial will be private.
