Frances G. (Gawek) Richard

Frances G. Richard, 99, of Scituate, RI, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Born on March 19, 1925, in West Warwick, RI, she was the wife of the late Marcel A. Richard and the daughter of the late Stefan and Josephine (Karzeniowska) Gawek.

A graduate of Bryant College, Frances was an executive secretary, and later provided support to her husband’s accounting firm. She was strong in her faith and was for many years a daily communicant at St. Joseph’s Church. Her favorite saying was Smile, God loves you, and if she really loved you, you might find a smiley face sticker on your car window. She enjoyed being with family, especially the holiday gatherings that brought all together. She had the good fortune to travel the world, from Hawaii to the Holyland. Many of her trips were pilgrimages. She loved watching the birds at her feeders, her daily breakfast companions, and has passed on that love to her family.

Frances is survived by two children; Ivette Fantasia and her husband Thomas and David Richard and his wife Terri, six grandchildren; David Richard Jr. and his wife Jen, Katherine Fantasia, Matthew Fantasia, Zachary Fantasia, Felicity Fantasia and Luke Fantasia and a great-grandson; Brayden Richard. She was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother; Charles Gawek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 18, 2024, in the St. Joseph Church, 151 Danielson Pike, Scituate, RI. Burial will be in the Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick, RI.

In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to The Audubon Society of RI, 12 Sanderson Road, Smithfield, RI or St. Joseph Catholic Church 151 Danielson Pike, Scituate, RI.
