Frank E. Rathbun Sr.

Frank E. Rathbun Sr. 85, of Bennett Street, West Warwick, RI, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Kent Hospital, Warwick, RI. Born on March 14, 1938, in Coventry, RI, he was the husband of the late Rita R. (Blanchette) Rathbun and the son of the late Elmer J. and Dorothy C. (Breault) Rathbun.

Frank worked in the supply department at the US Naval Submarine Base in Groton, CT for twenty-five years before retiring in 1999. He was a US Army Veteran serving nine years in service to his country. Frank enjoyed studying history in general as well as the history of Coventry and West Warwick, RI. He was an active member of the West Warwick Senior Center, West Warwick, RI.

Frank is survived by five children: Frank E. Rathbun Jr., Cynthia S. Rathbun, Jeannie Mathewson and her husband John, Keri Lacaillade and Brenda Deangelis, seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter: Nyah Rose. He was predeceased by three brothers: David A. Rathbun, Donald J. Rathbun and Robert F. Rathbun.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 10:00 am in the Gorton – Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. A calling hour will be held prior from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Burial with US Military Honors will be held in St. Paul Cemetery, Warwick, RI.
