Gerald Frank Corbin, 75, of Doris Street, Coventry, RI, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. Born on September 28, 1947, in Nashua, NH, he was the husband of the late Mona (Schwabe) Corbin and the son of the late Frank and Cecile R. (Lamont) Corbin.
Gerald was an ASE certified mechanic for most of his life and most recently retired from Advance Auto Parts, serving as a parts professional. He was a US Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed having cats at home, was a voracious reader and a brilliant storyteller; in his prime he loved working on cars and was committed to supporting his community in helping out whenever he could. His most recent passions upon his retirement were spending time with his grandchildren, cooking, and watching auto races and movies.
One of his biggest personal accomplishments was the rebuilding of his beloved 1934 Chevy Coupe. He dedicated his love for Mopar parts in the rebuilding of this race car that his family and friends spent many summer weekends racing in Epping, NH.
Gerald is survived by his three daughters; Elisabeth Corbin Fuller and boyfriend, Marcelo Loyo; Anne Corbin Clow and spouse Christopher; and Kari Corbin Gordun and her husband Eric; two sisters: Barbara Carmody and Carol Donahue; seven grandchildren; Sedona Gordun, Adriana Gordun, Isabel Anderson, Jeffrey Anderson, Zachary Fuller, Claire Fuller, and Marcelo “Chelo” Loyo and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronnie Corbin.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Gorton – Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. US Military Honors salute will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will be private.
