Gilbert E. Hulting, 89, of Hutchison Island, FL, and formerly of Coventry, RI, went to be with his beloved Lord and Savior on Monday, April 6, 2026. His battle with liver cancer over the last 2 years displayed his trust, strength, and love in the Lord. He passed peacefully after enjoying his last breakfast with his family at home.
Born on January 1, 1937, in Providence, RI, married for 50 years, he was the husband of the late Naomi (Brown) Hulting and the son of the late Arthur and Ruth (Hilberg) Hulting. A graduate of Hope High School, Gilbert worked as a planner for Electric Boat in Groton, CT, for 30 years before retiring in 1996. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran.
Gil enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the beach, cookouts, and church potlucks. His hobbies included golfing with his buddies, working on projects, and reading. He was a great storyteller. Gil was a member of Abundant Life Church in Stuart, FL, where he was a part of their drama productions, helping around the church, and on the prayer team. When he was in Rhode Island he attended Christian Hill Community Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Linden, her husband, James, his grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, along with his extended church family. He was predeceased by his daughter, Holly Wheeler, his son, Richard Wheeler, and grandson, Dustin Wheeler, his brother, Richard Hulting, and his sister, Corinne Sjogren.
There will be a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday May 30, 2026 at 12:00 pm (Noon) at Christian Hill Community Church 56 Tiogue Ave, West Warwick, RI followed by a reception downstairs in the living room of the church. The burial will be private.
