Herman R. Matteson

Herman R. Matteson Jr., 90, of Crompton Road, East Greenwich, RI, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center of RI, Coventry, RI. Born on February 2, 1934, in Coventry, RI, he was the husband of Beverly (Brown) Matteson and the son of the late Herman Sr. and Ester (Loven) Matteson.

Herman was a tool maker for Circular Tool, Cranston, RI, for many years before retiring in 1996. He was also a battery technician for Sears Roebuck, Warwick, RI. Herman was a US Veteran serving in the Vietnam Era. He was also a Mason belonging to the King Solomon Lodge, East Greenwich, RI. He was a former volunteer for the RI Search and Rescue, Scituate, RI. Herman enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening.

Herman is survived by two sons; Paul Matteson and David Matteson and his wife Diane, a sister; Edith Rathbun, a granddaughter; Judith Jones and her husband Raymond, and three great granddaughters. He was predeceased by a grandson, Robert Matteson.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Gorton - Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. A calling hour will be held prior from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Coventry, RI.
