James H. Hiter, 59, of Oak Street, West Warwick, RI, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Hope Health Hospice in Providence. Born on October 7, 1966, in Warwick, he was the beloved son of Barbara A. (James) Hiter and the late Eldridge H. Hiter.
James dedicated more than 20 years of his career as a plasterer with Jesmac Construction Company in Providence. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. A lifelong New England sports fan, he especially loved cheering for the New England Patriots. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 2, West Warwick. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing, pastimes that brought him great joy.
Besides his mother Barbara Hiter, James is survived by his sister, Toni-Ann Lague and her husband Robert; his stepbrother, David Hiter and his wife Linda; his niece, Sierra Lague; and his nephew, Brandon Lague.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Gorton–Menard Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial with U.S. Military Honors at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.”
