John T. Savitsky Sr., 73, of Atwood Avenue, Johnston, Rhode Island, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. Born in Providence on July 29, 1952, he was the son of the late John Savitsky and Madeleine (Osowiecki) Malama.
John devoted more than 45 years to his work as a parts manager at Action Automotive formally State Battery in Providence, before retiring. He had earned a reputation for dependability, deep knowledge, and a calm, friendly demeanor.
He found joy in fishing and NASCAR racing, passions he shared with his son, John Savitsky Jr., who preceded him in death earlier this year. We hope he is at peace and that his son was there to greet him and they are casting a line together and reeling in the biggest catch in heaven
He is survived by his daughter, Sunshine Edwards, and her husband John Edwards; his siblings, Mary Adamo, Robert Savitsky, Christine Hodges, Colleen Hernandez, and the late Cheryl Malama his grandchildren, Austin Edwards, Shianne Edwards, Summer Edwards, Michael Savitsky, and Gianna O’Neil and her husband Frank. His former wife, Barbara Parrillo, and many nieces and nephew's. John will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
