Josephine G. Gorman, 90, of Contentment Drive in Coventry, RI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Avalon Nursing Home in Warwick. Born on November 18, 1935, in Providence, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Opal (Dewey) Muzzy.
Josephine resided in Florida for thirty years before returning to RI. She devoted many years to caring for others as an LPN at Rhode Island Hospital, a role that suited her naturally gentle and steady way of moving through the world. Outside of work, she found joy in the simple things—time spent with her family, afternoons at the Coventry Senior Center, and the thrill of discovering treasures at flea markets and yard sales. She loved reading, sewing, and crafting, and her hands were rarely still; she had a gift for turning small moments and simple materials into something meaningful.
She leaves behind her children, Joseph Gorman, Opal Murray, John Gorman, and Charles Gorman; her grandchildren, Jake Murray (Nicole Murray), Kyle Murray (Amanda Russo), Austin Stroming, Hunter Murray, Valerie Gorman and Erica Goman; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a caregiver for many years Amanda Russo. She was predeceased by her daughter, Tracy Gorman, siblings, Joseph Muzzy, John Muzzy, Alice Leahy, Harvey Muzzy, Michael Muzzy, Ella Anderson and Dorothy Morris.
Josephine’s service will be private.
