Joyce G. (James) Matteson

Joyce G. Matteson, 81, of, Giovanni Rose Court, Coventry, RI, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Kent Hospital, Warwick, RI. Born on May 30, 1941, in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Sr. and Alicia (Crumbly) James.

Joyce was a custodian for the Exeter / West Greenwich Regional School, West Greenwich, RI, for thirty-seven years before retiring in 2005.

Joyce is survived by four children; Earl Aker Jr., Linda Grace, Denise Arver and Dwayne Aker, two sisters; Alicia Tuttle and Carol Bradford, eleven grandchildren; Israel Aker, Brenda Aker, Joshua Aker, Alicia Coppola, Bethany Baxter, Kimberly Rogovitz, Joshua Arver, Nicole Maguire, Jonna Gelinas, Ashley Johnson and Isabella Jubinville, thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter; Patricia Marland and four brothers; Raymond James Jr., Robert James, Arthur James and Richard James.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 3:00 pm in the Trinity Assembly of God, 2119 Hartford Avenue, Johnston, RI.
