Lenore Mercurio, 72, of Tunk Hill Road, Hope, RI, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Born in Pawtucket, RI, on November 20, 1952, she was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Mercurio and daughter of the late Leonard and Theresa (Lacroix) Moreau.
Lenore dedicated many years of her career as a general manager at Child World, retiring in 1992. Her creative spirit continued to flourish as the owner and operator of City Sampler, where she shared her handcrafted works at the Scituate Art Festival, Ocean State Artisans, and numerous local fairs. A devoted member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Ss. John & Paul Church, Lenore lovingly knitted 437 shawls, each a symbol of comfort and care.
She is survived by her children, Amy Aquino and James Collins (Janine); her sister, Linda Phaneuf; and her cherished grandchildren: Emily Aquino, Lea Aquino, Alex Collins (Alexa), Joey Collins, and Samantha Wayss. Lenore was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Moreau.
Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Gorton – Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m., with burial at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston, RI.
