Mary A. (Kelly) Vaz
Obituary
Mary A. Vaz, age 80, of Troy, OH and formerly of Warrick, RI and Casper, WY, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the Troy Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Troy. She was born on May 2, 1941, in Providence, RI to the late William B. Kelly and Florence V. (Crowley) Kelly.
Mary is survived by four children: Vickie L. Yannielli of Troy, Deborah A. Vaz of Providence, RI, John E. Vaz of Providence, RI, Lori A. Vaz of Coventry, RI and Edward D. Vaz of Coventry, RI; brother: Francis Kelly of Wakefield, RI, sisters: Florence Poissant of Riverside, RI, Margaret Souza of Providence, RI and Barbara Thibodeau of Warrick, RI; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and her devoted friend: Peggy D’Arcangelo. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband: Hughes Vaz and life partner: Henry Matteau, two children: Jeannie F. Fetter and Robert W. Vaz and her brother: William Kelly.
Mary was a former member at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in West Warrick, RI. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 6:00 pm in the Gorton - Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be held prior from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mary’s name to the American Cancer Society at PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
