Michael J. Dounetos

Michael J. Dounetos, 77, of Giovanni Rose Court, Coventry, RI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Kent Hospital, Warwick, RI. Born on May 7, 1947, he was the husband of Patricia (Botello) Dounetos. They were married for fifty-five years. He was the son of the late Spyridon and Lucille (Deslauriers) Dounetos.

Michael was a heavy equipment operator for Hoechst Chemical Company, Coventry, RI, for forty years before retiring in 2008. He was a graduate of West Warwick High School, West Warwick, RI, class of 1965. He was a US Army Veterans serving in the Vietnam War. Michael was an avid golfer and member of Cranston Country Club, Cranston, RI, winning many tournaments. He coached CYO Basketball at St. John the Baptist Church, West Warwick, RI, for many years. He also coached Pop Warner football and soccer for many years. Michael also volunteered in many golf fund raisers including The Trudeau Center, Warwick, RI, Nephcure Kidney Foundation and The Greek Church of the Annunciation, Cranston, RI.

Besides his wife Patricia Dounetos, he is survived by two sons; Michael Dounetos and his wife Krista and Jason Dounetos and his wife Susan, three grandchildren; Jacob “Lefty” Dounetos, Aliya Dounetos and Nicholas Dounetos and a nephew; John Botello.

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
