Paul Kindschy Obituary

Paul Timothy Kindschy, 66, of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, passed on peacefully at home with his son by his side Sunday, April 26th, 2026.

Paul was born on September 26th, 1959, at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina. His father, a proud and decorated Marine, Orville P. Kindschy (Paul) was stationed at the base when his mother, Carolyn Kindschy, gave birth to their first child. A few years later the family welcomed Paul’s brother, John Kindschy, into the world. John, now 62, resides in West Warwick with his wife Julie. Both boys spent much of their childhoods moving around the eastern part of the country for their fathers military assignments before Orville and Carolyn had a house built in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, where the family settled. Orville loved his children unconditionally and worked hard to afford his family everything they wanted.

Paul attended East Greenwich High School where he gained a reputation as a star football player, but a knee injury forced him out of competition. As a young adult, Paul’s beloved uncle, Norman Plante of Warwick, taught him the skilled trade of carpentry, something Paul would be known for the rest of his life. An incredible finish carpenter, Paul crafted pieces of wood into beautiful crown molding, wainscoting, custom cabinets, shelving, and decorative trim. He loved working with his hands and used his creative skill all his life.
Later following in his fathers footsteps, Paul joined the Marine Corps for a few years, serving his country while being stationed in post-war Okinawa, Japan. Prior to his deployment, Paul met his now ex-wife, Nancy Stearns (Rogers) and shortly after his return home the two were married and began a family.

Their first born, Jason Kindschy, 38, resided with Paul in East Greenwich where the two grew close while Jason was able to help care for Paul in his final months and days. Paul and Nancy’s second child, Alyse Kindschy, 33, of West Warwick, was the apple of Paul’s eye. Alyse later blessed Paul with two amazing grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jonathan Parmalee, both of whom he adored.

He spent his twilight years caring for his mother Carolyn in their family home. Paul used his carpentry skills for upkeep on the house and enjoyed spending time with his mother. He was a devoted son who made sure all of Carolyn’s needs were met, sometimes even before she knew there was a need. Their bond was unbreakable.
Paul was a top-notch dart player and accumulated countless trophies over the years competing in state-wide leagues, accompanied by many of his lifelong friends. He also loved to cook, and would always hand a guest or loved one a plate that overflowed.

Paul Kindschy was a loving father, a dedicated son, and a gentle grandfather. His smile and laugh were contagious. All who knew him loved being in his company and cherished his presence. He was stoic at times much like his father, but he radiated warmth and illuminated any room he was in. He will be deeply missed by many.

His final wishes were to be cremated and no services be held. However, for those close to him, please contact his son as the family has shared interest in celebrating his life at a later date.
