Raymond H. Menard

Dr. Raymond H. Menard, 79, of Riveredge Road, Orlando, FL and formerly of Manville, RI, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 2, 2020, after losing his twenty-five year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born on February 20, 1941 in Providence, RI, he was the husband of Michelle C. (Torres) Menard, previously married to Barbara (Gallagher) Menard and the late Michele (Gallagher) Menard. He was the son of the late Alfred U. II, former Speaker of the House of Rhode Island and Flora (Lessard) Menard.

Raymond attended LaSalle Academy, class of 1959. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Providence College 1963. He went on to obtain his Doctorate in Biochemistry from University of Rhode Island in 1971, and was a Postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Health 1971-1974. Raymond had a lifelong career in science. He began his career teaching Biochemistry at Brown Medical School. He later returned to NIH as a Staff Scientist and was an advisor to the World Health Organization. He moved on to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC, authoring over 40 publications. Most of Raymond's career was spent as Vice-President of the Garden State Cancer Center, where he retired after 28 years. Raymond will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Besides his wife Raymond is survived by a daughter; Danielle Menard, two step daughters; Tracy Coppola and Halley Torres, a brother; Robert Menard of Florida, a sister; Dorothy Menard of NY, four grandchildren; Isabelle, C.J., Chad and Cody, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother; Alfred J. Menard III.

His services will be private.
