John A. Turano

John A. Turano, 87, of Providence New London Turnpike, North Stonington, passed away on Sunday morning, April 23, 2017 at the Westerly Hospital. John will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife of 65 loving years, Dorothy M. (Henry) Turano of North Stonington, his sister, Gilda Colley and her husband George of McKinney, TX, his brother, Anthony Turano and his wife Karen of Westerly, his nephew, Jan Turano, who was like a son to him, of North Stonington and many nieces and nephews.

            Mr. Turano was born in Westerly on August 14, 1929, the son of the late Santo and Rose Turano. He was predeceased by his brothers Louis Conto, Santo J. Turano, and sisters, Jennie Woodruff, Rose Korytkowski, Carmella Cortese and Philomena Wroblewski. John proudly served our country in the United States Army, 172nd Infantry Regiment during the Korean War, earning the Army of Occupation Medal. He was a self-employed floor covering specialist. John enjoyed working in his flower beds and listening to his music.

            Funeral services will be private and are under the direction of Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly.
