Richard E. Grenier

Surrounded by 16 of his children, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, Richard E. Grenier, 82, of Canonchet Trail, Cranston, RI, passed away on Saturday, April, 22, 2017 at Riverview Healthcare Community, in Coventry, RI. Born in Warwick, RI, he was the husband of the late Rosalie M. (Vaccaro) Grenier and the son of the late Aime Joseph and Henrietta (Gorman) Grenier.

Richard, who received his Bachelor's Degree from Johnson & Wales in Business Administration, was a truck driver for JSA Trucking in Cranston, RI for forty-seven years until retiring in 2011. He was a member of Club Jogues, in Coventry, RI and was a very big fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins. In addition, Mr. Grenier, a graduate of West Warwick High School in 1953, was a member of Frank "Monk" Maznicki's Wizards Football team that won over 50 consecutive games and traveled to Miami, Florida in 1952. 

He is survived by five sons; Richard D. Grenier and his wife Nelia, Steven P. Grenier and his wife Lisa, Aime Joseph Alphonse Grenier and his wife Kim, Kenneth W. Grenier and his wife Lillian and Patrick R. Grenier and his wife Kristen, a brother; Robert Grenier, two sisters; Nancy Johnson and Elaine Fraser, eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers; Roland Grenier and Aime "Jim" Grenier and two sisters; Henrietta Dodd and Mary D. Hayes

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 48 Highland St, West Warwick, RI. Calling hours will be held prior - from 8:30 - 10:00 am at the Gorton Menard Funeral Home and Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Burial with Military Honors will be in the SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, in Coventry, RI.
