Rosemary Mattias, 75, of Valley Crest Road, Coventry, RI, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Kent Hospital, in Warwick, RI. She was married for fifty seven years to Joseph M. Mattias and was the daughter of the late Mark H. and Agnes V. (Swanson) Costello.
She performed many roles for The Providence Visitor, in Providence, RI until her retirement. She also was a homemaker, a daycare provider, worked for Tupperware and was an Avon Representative.
She was loving, loyal, kind, caring, supportive, never in a bad mood, always living on "Memory Lane", and always up for a party...even if the party was just going out to lunch. Her interests were: reading, Star Trek, family, sewing, baking, horses, playing cards, warm weather, lobster, and anything purple. She also loved collecting things: anything to do with Mr. Spock, Santa Claus, unicorns, dragons, fairies, and dragon flies.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: Joy M. Thibodeau and her husband Kevin, Michael J. Mattias and his wife Erika, Marianne Mattias, and Jeanne M. Johnson and her husband David; six grandchildren: Amanda, Matthew, Andrew, Alexandra, Bradley and Calvin, and granddaughter by marriage: Sha; a brother: William Costello, and two sisters: Marcia Bryson, and Pamela Costello. She was predeceased by a sister: Ann L. Stone.
A funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Gorton Menard Funeral Home and Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be held from 5:30-8:00 pm on Monday, October 24.
