Carolyn M. Rice, 79, of Westminster Road, Canterbury, CT, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at home. Born in Warwick, RI, she was the wife of Roy A. Rice. They were married for fifty-seven years. She was the daughter of Arthur W., Sr. and Lily (Walton) Ellis.
Carolyn was a lace brass winder for various lace mills for many years before retiring.
Besides her husband, Carolyn is survived by two sons; Keith Rice and Kevin D. Rice, a brother; Ronald Ellis, two sisters; Myrtle Bell and Marion Gordon, eight grandchildren; Daniel, Joshua, Robert, Brian, Jennifer, Cody, Kerrie and Aaron, two great grandchildren; Jayla and Jameswyatt and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers; Arthur Ellis Jr., John Ellis and Robert Ellis and five sisters; Ethel Hart, Harriet Burns, Irene Spencer, Florence Richmond and Evelyn Burdon.
A funeral home service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial will be in the Rathbun Cemetery, Coventry, RI.
