My heart goes out to you Pat, Al, wife, children, siblings, aunts and cousins...the entire family ans Derek's many friends. What wonderful and precious memories I have of Derek going way back to when he was in elementary school --- his caring, sense of humor and laughter... The most recent was when he worked with me at Canonicus Camp & Conference Center in Exeter. We rejoice that one day we will all be reunited in eternity. Prayers and condolences...Liz

My heart is heavy for this life cut short. God in His faithfulness kept Derek until Derek chose Him. He was like a son I never had. Many have learned to trust Jesus as their Savior due to his testimony. He was not shy about sharing his heart. He didn't gloss his sins over as many of us choose to do. Even though he hadn't finished Bible College, he preferred to teach us all as he learned the way. Thank you Derek for being yourself in a world of pretenders. You are already missed so much. Loved you dearly.

Dear family and friends of Mr. Derek,
I am so sorry for your loss, and very happy for Mr. Derek's gain. It was such a pleasure getting to know him. I was always very much encouraged by his love for the Lord and for his Christian brothers and sisters. Something that really impressed me about Mr. Derek was his desire for eternity. He seemed to long for heaven as all Christians should, yet few Christians do. My prayers are with you all.
Sincerely,
~Love Boettinger

I'm not going to say "I'm Sorry", Or "It Must Have Been God's Will". I am sure there are no words that will take away the pain you all must be feeling inside right now...
Just remember, I'm here, and I care.
I knew Derek for years, so if you need to talk, just Email me.
Rest In Peace, Derek...You are loved and will be sadly missed.

To all of Derek's family and friends,
I am so sorry for your loss, but remember that Derek is where he longed to be. I didn't know Derek very well, but I remember when I met him, it was at a friend's small birthday party here at college and he asked me my name and made sure he said hi to me every time he saw me. He had a way of making people feel important, by humbling himself. Derek was cracking jokes left and right, and always making those laugh around him! His joy for the Lord was what made him special, and I am so glad that he knew and loved Jesus, wholeheartedly ! I am praying for your family !

He truly was zealous after God and touched the hearts of the untouchable, inspired the dead in spirit, and shown God's grace and love to those no one else would go near. He saw hope in every lost soul, and opportunity in every moment with them. He ran the race with all he could, and I know he is hearing those words "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

To All Derek's Family and Loved Ones, I am so sorry for your loss. I only spoke to Derek once, but I've heard so much about him. I enjoyed listening to his spoken word in chapel. Even though I didn't get to know Derek too well personally, he was a huge encouragement to me. It was very easy to tell Derek was a respectable man of God. He had such passion for the Lord and His Word. Derek loved our Savior and I am sure Derek is extremely happy to be in His presence now. I have been praying for your family day after day and will continue to do so. Derek will be missed in our Word of Life Family. Rest in peace, brother.
